TMT bars get their strength from quenching and self-tempering. Straw to blue are the colours steel shows as it tempers.
What is cold forging?
Thicker where it's threaded. Strong where it matters.
Cutting a thread removes steel. Cold forging first presses the bar end at room temperature to enlarge it, so the finished thread keeps the strength of the full bar.
